About Young Transatlantic Innovation Leaders Initiative (YTILI)
The Young Transatlantic Innovation Leaders Initiative (YTILI) is the U.S. Department of State's flagship program for emerging entrepreneurs from Europe. The administering organization partnering with the Department of State is WorldChicago, a nonprofit organization working to foster mutual understanding through creating and supporting dynamic global relationships; connecting Americans with their global counterparts; and, building personal and professional bridges to create opportunities for dialogue, economic prosperity, and goodwill.
The YTILI program is a two-way exchange program designed to strengthen the transatlantic relationship, develop sustainable partnerships between U.S. and European entrepreneurs and innovators, promote regional integration and cooperation in Europe, and encourage European businesses, governments and civil society to develop their innovation ecosystems. The program includes a customized virtual YTILI entrepreneurial curriculum; a fellowship with a business or organization in one of nine (9) U.S. cities; opening and closing conferences; and alumni engagement opportunities.
Currently, the 2022 cohort of 48 YTILI Fellows are in the U.S. engaging in their program across the nine (9) U.S. cities – Albuquerque, New Mexico; Charlotte, North Carolina; Chicago, Illinois; Denver, Colorado; Detroit, Michigan; Huntsville, Alabama; Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; San Diego, California; and, Seattle, Washington – where they have been placed with entrepreneurs and businesses. At the end of that component of the program, the 48 YTILI Fellows will all travel to Washington, DC, where WorldChicago and the U.S. Department of State (and other program partners) will host two days of professional and networking activities. The time in Washington, DC will provide Fellows with an opportunity for direct engagement with the Metro DC area entrepreneurial ecosystem as well as learn more about federal policies and resources to support entrepreneurship across the United States.
