About the Speaker:
Dr. Ali Kashani is the VP of Special Projects at Postmates where he created the X division. Now in its second year, Postmates X employs 50+ roboticists, engineers and designers who created Serve: the world’s first friendly and personable self-driving robot.
Ali joined Postmates in 2017 after it acquired his one-year-old startup, Lox AI, tasked with solving humanity’s oldest question: “What should I eat next?” Lox was started out of Pear Ventures, Silicon Valley’s top performing seed-stage fund, where Ali was an Entrepreneur in Residence.
Prior to Pear, Ali co-founded a smart-home startup, Neurio, to help consumers measure, understand and conserve electricity consumption. Vancouver-based Neurio grew to over $12M in recurring revenue before being acquired by Generac, North America’s largest manufacturer of power generators.
Ali received his Ph.D. in Robotics and Computer Vision from the University of British Columbia in 2012. He is the recipient of NSERC Graham Bell fellowship, Canada’s premier engineering fellowship, and has been awarded numerous patents.
