Women’s Power Practice: How to Effectively Pitch Investors with Jennifer Hill (June 21, 2023)
Virtual · Zoom
Last year, women-founded startups received only 1.9% of all venture capital funds, a decrease from 2.4% from the previous year. U.S. startups with all-women teams received around $4.5 billion out of the total $238.3 billion in venture capital allocated, according to PitchBook data.
As a startup founder with a successful exit under her belt, Jennifer Hill understands the challenges women startup founders face first hand. In order to effectively pitch investors to secure funding, she says women need to tailor their approach to their audience.
“It's about understanding how to communicate in a way that lands for whoever you're speaking to,” Jennifer says. “For example, if I was on a call with a woman who's an angel investor and very philanthropic, I'm going to speak very differently to her. I'm going to use a different cadence and a different rhythm and a different style than if I'm speaking to somebody who is a managing partner of a major fund and is very short on time. In that situation I'm going to be much more direct. I'm going to get to the point. I'm going to have a different cadence.”
In a June 21 webinar sponsored by the Founders Network Women's Leadership Committee, Jennifer will teach women how to be more effective at pitching and owning their power.
Her webinar will cover:
- How to craft your pitch in a way to resonates with the audience
- What stops women from owning their power
- How to speak into masculine vs. feminine energy
- How to harness the power of our words and our body language
